You are at a house party with friends, and you stepped away to grab something. When you come back, you notice your drink has been unattended for a few minutes.
You left your soda on a table while you stepped away for a minute. When you return, someone says, “It’s fine, we didn’t touch it.”
What should you do about your unattended drink?
- Take a quick sip to see if it seems off
- Get a fresh replacement drink now
- Keep drinking but don’t mention it
- Demand the person prove they watched it
Recommended
Get a fresh replacement drink now
If a drink was left unattended or out of your sight, treat it as not something you can verify as safe. Do not taste, smell, or check how it looks to “test it.” Replace it with a fresh drink from a source you choose, and you do not have to accept reassurance from anyone. Leaving a drink unattended does not prove tampering, but getting a new one is a safer move.
