1. About these terms
Surefoot (“Surefoot”, “we”, “us”) is operated from the State of New Jersey, United States. These Terms of Use apply to the Surefoot website and everything on it, including the lessons, the Ask the Surefoot Coach feature, My plan, the For parents page and the resource lists (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Education only, not advice or emergency help
Surefoot offers general education and practice about safety, boundaries, relationships and support. It is not legal advice, medical advice, mental health care, counseling or any other professional service, and using it does not create any professional relationship. Surefoot is not a crisis line or an emergency service. It cannot call anyone, see your location or monitor you.
If you or someone else is in danger or needs medical help, call 911 or your local emergency number. For support, you can contact the RAINN National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673 (24/7) or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
3. AI-generated content
Surefoot uses artificial intelligence (AI). Lessons, coach answers, suggested wording, illustrations, images and narration may be fully or partly generated by AI models. AI-generated images are labeled. Automated checks, and in some cases people, review this content for safety and accuracy, but no check is perfect. AI content can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or not right for your situation, and an answer that passed our checks is not a guarantee that it is correct.
Use Surefoot as a starting point, not a final answer. Compare what you read with the trusted resources listed on Surefoot, your college’s official offices and websites, and qualified professionals.
4. Your choices and responsibility
Every situation is different, and you are the best judge of what is safe for you. You are responsible for your own decisions and actions, including whether and how you use any information, wording, plan or suggestion from the Service.
Surefoot, its owners, creators and contributors are not responsible for the misuse of the Service or of its content, or for advice, wording or information that is misguided, mistaken, misunderstood or applied in a way it was not intended. Nothing in Surefoot places responsibility for harm on a person who experiences it; responsibility for harm belongs to the person who causes it.
5. Keep checking for current information
Safety guidance, campus services, phone numbers and the organizations we link to change over time. Surefoot’s lessons and these terms are updated as well. Always check Surefoot again, and confirm details with the original source, to make sure the information you rely on is up to date. We do not promise that any content is current on the day you read it.
6. Who Surefoot is for
Surefoot is designed for college students (18 and older) and for parents and other trusted adults who support them. It is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not use it.
7. Using Surefoot respectfully
When you use the Service, please do not:
- share names, contact details or other information that identifies you or anyone else in the coach or anywhere else on the site;
- use the Service to harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone, or to plan anything unlawful;
- try to get around its safety checks, overload it, break it, or access parts of it that are not public;
- copy or collect its content by automated means, or present its content as professional advice.
We may limit or block access to protect the Service or other people.
8. Other organizations and links
Surefoot links to and draws on independent organizations such as RAINN, One Love, Right To Be, NIH / NIAAA and others listed under Trusted resources. These organizations are independent of Surefoot. Linking to them does not mean they endorse Surefoot or that we control or are responsible for their content, services or policies.
9. Logos, trademarks and images
All logos, trademarks, names and copyrighted images of other organizations shown or mentioned on Surefoot belong to their respective owners. They are used only to identify those organizations and their resources, and their use does not imply endorsement or affiliation. The Surefoot name, logo and original content belong to Surefoot. If you believe something on Surefoot uses your work or trademark improperly, please contact us and we will review it promptly.
10. No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the Service or its content will be accurate, complete, current, reliable, uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Surefoot and its owners, creators, contributors and partners will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss or harm, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, your reliance on any content (including AI-generated content), the misuse of the Service, or the content of any third-party site or resource.
12. New Jersey law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the Service or these terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Some of the disclaimers and limits in these terms may not apply to you if the law where you live does not allow them. Nothing in these terms limits any right that cannot be limited under New Jersey law or other applicable law, and if any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed. Using the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms, so please check this page from time to time.
